Janet L. Venables (1936-2017) , 81, of Canal Fulton died Monday, December 25, 2017 at Chapel Hill Community following a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis. She was born on August 28, 1936 in Akron to the late Maynard and Florence (Butzer) Johnson and has made Canal Fulton her home for the past 55 plus years. She was a graduate of Canal Fulton High School (now Northwest ), also graduated from cosmetology school and retired from the Northwest Local School District. She was married to the late George Venables for 56 years. Janet was also active for many years in the Canal Fulton Ladies Auxiliary for both the Canal Fulton Fire Department and VFW Post 9795. In addition she was a member of the Clinton Trinity Lutheran Church.Janet is survived by daughters Barbara (Louis) Yingling and Patty (Rick) Stroh; grandchildren, Travis (Rachael) Stroh, Tyler (girlfriend, Jackie) and Mayson (boyfriend Matthew) Stroh; great grandchildren, twins Parker and Elliott and her loyal cat, Ernie. Besides her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband George; son , Larry and brother Eugene Johnson. The family would like to thank Janet's caregivers from Comfort Keepers over the past two years; especially, Aileen, Kate and Johanna. Your care and friendship meant so much to Janet. The funeral service will be FRIDAY 11:00 a.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. East ( Rte 93) Canal Fulton, conducted by Pastor Julie Thoms. Final resting place will be Newmans Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be THURSDAY 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
