June 21, 1922 ~ December 23, 2016 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Letha May (Hobden,Meekins) Skinner

Letha entered this world on June 21,1922. She was greeted in heaven on Friday, December 23, 2016, with a "Well done, good and faithful servant!". Today, Letha is enjoying a cup of hot tea with her mother and father, Mabel and John Hobden. Joining them is the love of her life, Lewis Meekins, her first husband and Jim Skinner, her second husband.

Letha graduated from Buchtel High School. In her younger years, she worked for O’Neil’s and took great pride in developing excellent customer skills. She retired from Ohio Bell where she was one of the first women supervisors. She later worked for a law office.

Letha and Lewis were married and lived in Uniontown. Together they had fun building a cabin in the Pennsylvania woods where they spent their weekends. They loved to square dance. Letha’s mother made all her fancy square dance dresses by hand with yards of material. They purchased a lot in Clinton and designed a house.

Letha started volunteering at Barberton Citizens Hospital in 1991. She was volunteer of the year in 2002. She completed her volunteer work in 2014 with a total of 14,759 volunteer hours. It was at BCH where she met Jim Skinner. They were married in Clinton, OH and went on a honeymoon to FL. They enjoyed going to baseball games and shared many activities with their friends.

Letha loved the outdoors. Her yard was an array of beautiful flowers and trees. She enjoyed the wildlife. Over the years, she accumulated 50 Metro-Park badges on her hiking stick.

Letha enjoyed preparing elegant meals and entertaining her friends. Her house was decorated for every occasion. She credits her long life to her daily diet of eating oranges, chocolate, and ice-cream.

Letha’s surviving relatives are Paul Adair, Leona Allen, Janet Guilitto and Holly Jenson.

Letha was very proud of her English Heritage. She liked to call herself a "Stubborn Englishman". She was an extremely compassionate person who brought joy to many people. Ferdinand will miss their daily visits. Good people leave good memories and our memories of her are rich and many. Treasure your memories of Letha.

A special thank you to all of those who provided help and comfort to Letha until her journey’s end.
