Robert (Bob) Earl Decker, age 87, passed away on Sunday, July 9th, 2017. He was born on December 15, 1929 in Seville, Ohio. He also went by the nicknames of Red, Cob, and most recently to his friends at the Homestead, Bob 2.

He retired at age 70 from Rothwell Fitting Company/Good Supply in Canal Fulton where his dedication and devotion was shown through his safe driving record and his perfect attendance for over 30 years. Previously, Bob worked on the railroad and in farming.

Bob loved tinkering outdoors, gardening, fishing, and eating ice cream. He resided most of his life in Canal Fulton and at Luna Lake in Clinton, Ohio. The last 10 years of his life, he lived in Hartville, Ohio. His greatest love was his grandchildren, who he enjoyed spoiling and creating lasting memories.

He was preceded in death by former spouse Carolyn June (Parker) Decker, parents, Henry and Doris Decker, and brothers Joseph, Kenny, Glen, and Raymond Roy Decker, and sisters MaryAnn Parker, Faye Warren, and Esther Millard. He is survived by children Krista (Jim) Trent, Deanna (Chad) Johnson, and Brenda (Rick) Simmons and his pride and joy, his grandchildren Logan, Jake, McKenna and Joshua Trent and Tyler and Zachary Johnson (Emily Gillespie). He is also survived by brothers Lester Decker and Donald (Judy) Decker, and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Gentle Brook (Homestead) Assisted Living where they cared for dad as if he were their own, Mercy Hospice Team, and the Physicians and Staff of Mercy Medical Center. A special thank you to Dr. Stetler for the special bond he developed in caring for dad.

Funeral Services SATURDAY, July 15, 2:30PM at Swigart Easterling Funeral Home 624 Cherry St. East (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton). with Jim Gindlesberger officiating. Calling hours will be from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm. Interment at Canal Fulton Cemetery.
