Vincent Paul Lavery

January 15, 1950 ~ August 9, 2016 (age 66) 66 Years Old

Vincent P. Lavery, 66 of Marshallville, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 after complications from a liver transplant. "The world stands on three things: the law of God, the service of the heart (prayer) and acts of loving kindness." A light has gone out and the world is slightly diminished. Our father and husband was a luminary, a spiritual light to all that knew him. The psalmist wrote that "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life". Let we who are left behind live our lives through the example he set. My best friend, the love of my life, my soul mate; I have always loved you, will never stop loving you. Vincent served his country as a decorated Combat medic earning a Vietnam service medal with 4 bronze stars, a Purple Heart, combat medical badge with 1st award, and a sharpshooter badge. He was passionate about the environment and served as an activist for various environmental causes and was also an accomplished writer. Vincent would tell you his greatest accomplishment was the love and pride he had for his family and his home. Preceded in death by his parents James and Delores Lavery; brother, Kevin Lavery and brother-in-law Joe Burns; He is survived by his wife Ruth Lavery; daughters, Danielle Caron and Abigail Lavery; grandchildren, Tori and Eliana Ketler, Gavin and Mason Caron; siblings, Theresa (John) Naska, Wanda Burns, Patty Huwig, Thomas (Debbie) Lavery, Michael Lavery and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to Kirsten Baker and Christi Kammer, he loved you both so much as if you were his own and to the SICU staff and Liver team at the Cleveland Clinic, thank you for walking this journey by our side with love and compassion, we will always love you.
