Dr. Wyles was an awesome leader and very willing to encourage students and others to do their best at everything they attempted to do. She was very approachable and was liked by many. She will certainly be missed.

Barbara spread her bright light of intelligence, courage, style, wit, and laughter where ever she went and with everyone she met. Her smile was her calling card. Her many roles at NVCC and the VCCS served to inspire and motivate many woman - including me. I feel fortunate to have her as my precious forever friend. She is sorely missed. Love and heartfelt condolences to the entire Wyles and Moritz family.

I am one of Karen Wyles Feighan's daughters, writing from Nashua, NH. I was deeply saddened to learn from my mom of Barbara's passing and offer my heartfelt sympathies to her many close relatives and friends. My mom and my sister, Michele, convey their condolences from Myrtle Beach, SC. During my high-school and undergraduate years, Barbara hosted me on visits to Washington, DC, and offered me sage advice about pursuing an academic career. She took me out to dinner at fabulous restaurants in Georgetown and to the Kennedy Center to see a performance of "Les Miserables." She was very generous, caring, warm, witty, and intelligent. I lost touch with her over the years due to all my moves, but I never lost my strong feelings of gratitude to her for all her help. I am so sorry for your loss.
