Betty Jane (Harbaugh) Beaber, 97 of Clinton, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 26, 2018 at her home. Born November 4, 1920 in Barberton to the late Charles and Leah (Morgan) Harbaugh she was a life resident of Clinton and graduated in 1938 from Clinton High School. During WW II, Betty worked at Sun Rubber in Barberton and later worked 26 years for Dannemiller Orchards (aka, Knopf's and Country Corner). She was a lifelong and oldest member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a charter member of the Missionary Society, also a member of the Ladies' Aid Society and taught Sunday School, Bible School and sang in the choir. She had a beautiful soprano voice and was a soloist for weddings, funerals and sang in many community events.
She was recognized as a good cook and was famous for her macaroni and cheese, potato salad, cakes and grape pie. Betty was an avid walker and hiker, earning many awards from the Metro-Parks, for completing trails until she broke her hip at age 89. She visited her daughter in Guam and made many trips to Texas. In her later years, she got serious about traveling, going to Europe, Scandinavia and Russia. One of her greatest sources of pride was serving as Grand Marshall of the Clinton Bi-Centennial Parade in 2016. Her greatest joy in recents weeks was learning that she was going to be a great grandmother for the first time. She had already gone shopping for baby clothes and was searching for a Baptismal Dress. Just days before she died, she said she just wanted to make it to January to "meet that little girl."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband of 53 years Curtis Beaber; son-in-law, Michael Murphy; sister, Leona "Toni" Bailey and brother, Delmar Harbaugh. Betty is survived by her two daughters, Janice (James) Breitenstine and Dr. Linda Murphy;; grandchildren, Matthew (Courtney) Breitenstine, Leah Breitenstine and Christopher Murphy.
Funeral Services will be held FRIDAY, 11am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 7595 Middle St., Clinton, Pastor Julie Thoms, officiating. MUSIC will start FRIDAY at 10:30 a.m.. Burial at Clinton Cemetery. Calling Hours THURSDAY 4pm to 7pm at Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers memorials in Betty's name can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
