Earl "Skip" Stoughton, 99 of Canal Fulton, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Chapel Hill Community. Born in Roanoke, VA on October 12, 1918, he spent most of his life in the Akron, Canton and Canal Fulton area. Skip worked as a machinist, bus and auto mechanic, owned and operated Stoughton and Son Gulf service station for 15 years and retired in 1980 from the parts department of Parkers Plymouth and Chrysler Motors in Canal Fulton. He was also a member of the Canal Fulton Fire Dept. for 27 years and Trinity United Church of Christ for many years. Preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Betty (Geis) Stoughton; Skip is survived by son, Richard (Karen) of The Villages, FL; granddaughter, Stacy (Dan) Franzmeier of Altamonte Springs, FL; grandson, Scott (Chaya) Stoughton of Stuart, FL; great-grandchildren Sara Louise and Ryan Scott.
Funeral Services will be held SATURDAY, 10am, at Chapel Hill Community, 12200 Strausser St. NW, Canal Fulton. Burial at Canal Fulton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mercy Hospice, 4369 Whipple Avenue NW, Canton, OH 44718.
