James (Jim) M. Richmond II, 54, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 3, 2017 with his wife Elizabeth (Beth) J. Richmond sleeping near his side. Jim had been battling pancreatic cancer since August of 2016.

Jim was born in Harbor City, CA, on December 24, 1962. His family moved to Three Rivers, MI where he attended high school and graduated. Jim took a job transfer to Akron, OH in 1982 where he met his wife of 32 years, Elizabeth. They were wed on August 12, 1984. Together they started a life, family, business and have been residing in North Lawrence, OH for the last 18 years.

Jim started his business in 1986 in a small garage in his back yard sharpening industrial knives. For the last 31 years his business, Midwest Knife Grinding Inc., located in Canal Fulton, OH, has continued to grow and currently employs 17. In his spare time, Jim loved to take motorcycle trips with his wife, son and friends. He also enjoyed, boating, snow and water skiing, camping with his family, shots of Jager and dancing. Jim had a great sense of humor and often found himself the recipient of attention from cougars. You could always count on his unsolicited advice and him throwing you the peace sign.

Jim is survived by his wife Elizabeth, children Shawna (Joseph) DeLauder, James M. Richmond III, Sheila (Eric) Maglio, mother Elizabeth A. Richmond, sister Stacy L. Richmond, grandchildren Joey, Megan &, Kara DeLauder and Lincoln & Camryn Maglio as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jim is preceded in death by his father James M. Richmond and sister Elizabeth A. Whitworth.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be accepting donations to have a bench dedicated on the Beartooth Highway, in memory of Jim’s favorite motorcycle route.

Visitation will be held FRIDAY, March 10, 2017 at Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St., (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton, OH 44614, 11:00am to 1:00pm and 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A luncheon will be held FRIDAY March 10, 2017 at RiverTree Jackson located at 7373 Portage St NW, Massillon, OH 44646 from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. A celebration of life will be held at a later date……stay tuned for more.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the personnel at Aultman Hospice and Aultman Compassionate Care Center as well as all family and friends whom extended their love and support through this difficult time.
