Marion E. "Jim" Stewart, 76 of Canal Fulton, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018. Born February 19, 1942 in Spencer, Indiana to the late Albert and Mary (Copeland) Stewart, Jim had lived most of his life in the Akron/Canal Fulton areas graduating in 1960 from Northwest High School. Following high school, Jim served in the U.S. Navy. After the Navy Jim began his career as a Respiratory Therapist at Akron Children's Hospital and later retired in 2008 from Affinity Medical Center. Jim was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Clinton Lodge #47 Massillon and served on the Board for the Massillon Health Foundation and for United Church Homes.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sharon (Lawrence) Stewart; children, Christine (Robert) Thomas, Mark (Michelle) Stewart; grandchildren, Stewart, Amelia, Jedidiah, Airabella and Kenneth; siblings, Albert Stewart Jr., John (Nancy) Stewart, Shirley (Stephan) France and Pamela (Greg) France.
Thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff of Mercy Medical Center, Aultman Hospital and Aultman Compassionate Care for their wonderful care of Stew over the past 5 months.
Funeral Services will be held SATURDAY, 1:00pm at Trinity United Church of Christ, 8101 Manchester Ave. NW, Canal Fulton, Rev. Glen Shedlock, officiating. Burial at Newmans Creek Cemetery. Calling Hours Friday, 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton. Masonic Service at 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Trinity United Church of Christ.
