Evergreen, Colorado---Maynard Ivan "Skip" Stills, 84 died Monday morning, September 4th due to complications resulting from dementia. Born 21 November 1932 on a farm in Greeneville, Tennessee, Maynard was the eldest son of Melvin Virgil and Bertha Naomi (McCoy) Stills. A man of few words, Maynard was loved for his good nature, respected for his hard work, and admired for his devotion to his family. Raised in a sharecropper’s family, he grew up tobacco farming in Greeneville, TN and Lakeland, FL with his brother, Melvin Ross Stills and two sisters, Della Elva Bledsoe and Elizabeth Jewel McClain. After graduating from Parrottsville High School in Tennessee, Maynard joined the Air Force in 1953 and served as an electrician with the 5039th Installation Squadron (IS), at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska during the Korean War. After the war, he worked as a cable-splicer for AT&T and later Pacific Telesis, retiring as a Manager in 1989. Married 27 Dec 1958 to Martha Louise Culp, Maynard shared 58 years of devoted marriage when Martha died earlier in March. Soon after his marriage, he adopted Glenn David Mann, Martha’s son from her first marriage. He became a father in 1963 with the birth of his son, Michael Lee Stills. Martha and Maynard shared bowling, square dancing, pinochle and dinner with many friends. He would thoroughly delight any host who could serve him a meal that earned any praise beyond "it was okay." He is survived by his brother Melvin Ross Stills and lovingly remembered by daughter-in-law Annina (Bruno) Stills, grandson Jesse Stuart Stills, son Michael Lee Stills and his wife Tracey (Boyle) Stills, granddaughter Megan Lee Stills, his extended Belleville family and loving nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was being cared for in the Life Care Center of Evergreen with hospice care provided by Mount Evans Home Health Care and Hospice. Donations to Mount Evans Home Health Care and Hospice in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.

A short graveside service will be held 12:30 pm, Friday, September 15th at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH.
