Carol A. Carruthers, 81, of Longwood FL passed away August 22, 2015, after a sudden illness. Carol was born on January 7, 1934 in Barberton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Helen Bauman, her beloved husband, Bill, and a sister, Laura Jean LaMarche. Carol is survived by her five children; Diane Cummings, of Longwood, FL, Richard Carruthers, of Raleigh, NC, Helen Balcolm, of Mansfield, David Carruthers, of Knoxville, TN, and Steven Carruthers, of Wadsworth. She is survived by sister, Mary Lou Ellis of Elyria; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She retired from McDill Engineering where she worked for many years as a structural steel detailer. She enjoyed puzzles, embroidery, going for walks and spending time with family. Carol grew up in Canal Fulton and regardless of where she lived, she always called it home. She graduated in 1952 from Barberton High School where she attended her junior and senior year. Friends may call Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Swigart- Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St., (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton, from 11 a.m. until Noon with the funeral service immediately following. Carol will be laid to rest at Canal Fulton Cemetery near her childhood home.
