Charles W. Goodwin, 84 passed away peacefully on May 3, 2015. He was born in Pickens, W. Va. on March 24, 1931 and lived his life in Akron. He proudly served his country in Korea, serving in the U S Army and was employed by Goodyear for 40 plus years. "Chuck" was preceded in death by his first wife, Pat and newborn grandson. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Bettie; sons, Mark (Debbie), Eric (Sharon); grandsons, Kyle, Andrew, Jeremy, Tyler and Spencer; sister, Joan (Bob) Gray; nieces, Karen (Frank) Michniak, Kim (Charles) Baer and families. Also mourning his loss, his second family, Diane (Jeff) Ward, Christina, Kelly, Bruce (Leah) Grishkevich, Blair, Bree and Ralph Burkey, Jr. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4700 S. Main St., Akron at 12 NOON on THURSDAY, May 7, 2015 and where family will receive friends ONE HOUR PRIOR to time of service. Interment and a short service will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman on TUESDAY, May 12, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church or the Alzheimers Association.
