Charlotte "Shirley" Buckman, 89, formerly of Manchester, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 13, 2014 in Zephyrhills, FL. Shirley was born March 1, 1924 in Mulberry, OH, the only daughter of John and Elsie Moore. Shirley was married to Robert Keith Buckman on June 1, 1946. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2000. Survivors include her daughters, Vicky Spivey, Canton, OH and Linda (Tim) Vollstedt, Zephyrhills, FL; four grandchildren, Kiersten (Steve) Troutman, John (Taryn) Vollstedt, Keitha (Aaron) Brown and Colin (Anna) Wells; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lawrence Cooper. Shirley grew up in Mulberry, OH and graduated from Milford High School. After marrying Bob they moved to Akron and then to Manchester where they raised their family. They later made their home in Muscatine, IA, and then moved to Jacksonville, FL where her beloved Bob passed away. In 2003 she moved to LeRoy, IL and most recently to Zephyrhills, FL. She loved spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren, and was thankful for the many friends with whom God blessed her life. Shirley was a committed Christian who always found joy in the Lord's work. She was a devoted worker in the church and an avid supporter of missions. She fought the good fight and has now finished the course. Shirley's Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 18th at the Manchester Christian Church, 930 West Nimisila Rd, Akron, OH with her son-in-law, Tim Vollstedt, officiating. Visitation will also be at the church from 10:00-11:00 am the same day. Burial will follow at Manchester Cemetery.
