Claude “Ed” Edward O’Quinn, 62, passed away unexpectedly on September 8, 2026. 

Born in Canton, Ohio to Janice McNew and Claude A. O’Quinn, Ed was a graduate of Timken High School. But far more important than where he came from was who he chose to become. For 35 years, he was the devoted husband to Lisa O’Quinn. He was a proud father to his son, Edward, and daughter, Kim; a welcoming father-in-law to Tabitha; and a doting Grandpa to his granddaughter, Wrenley. He was also a beloved uncle to Shannan, though if you asked either of them, they would tell you they were brothers. 

In his earlier years, Ed loved being active—whether he was fishing, four-wheeling, camping, or golfing. He was also fiercely competitive, especially when it came to poker or intense board games like Risk, Monopoly, and Axis & Allies. As a dad, he passed that competitive fire down to his children, teaching them that if you play, you play to win. He didn’t hand out victories; if you managed to beat him, you knew you truly earned it. 

Later in life, after decades of demanding physical labor, he learned to slow down. He loved nothing more than relaxing at home, recovering from the work week, and finding peace by the beach. Through every stage of his life, his absolute favorite place to be was surrounded by his family. 

Ed spent 40 years working as a maintenance technician, primarily in nursing homes and apartment complexes. He was fortunate to find a career that matched his passions. He had an incredible mechanical aptitude and loved working with his hands; if someone else built it, Ed could figure out exactly how it worked, and if it broke, he always found a way to fix it. He took deep pride in keeping things running, helping others, and always being useful. 

His absence leaves a massive void. We will deeply miss him, his famous macaroni salad, and—at times—his questionable verbal filter. Often to the good-humored horror of his family, Ed never left you guessing; if he was thinking it, he was saying it.
