Clif M. Choate, 66 of New Franklin, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025. He was born February 9, 1959 in Barberton to the late Merle and Martha Jean Choate. Clif was raised in Canton/Perry and graduated from Perry High School. After high school Clif served in the US Army for 4 years. Clif worked many jobs including bartending, security guard and finally 20 plus years at LSI. He was a member of Barberton First Church of Christ where he attended with his wife. Clif was a man of simple pleasures. He enjoyed old Rock N Roll, Cleveland Guardians baseball, Ohio State football, reading Stephen King books and had a serious passion for chess. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Claudia Wilson and niece, Katie Choate. Clif is survived by his loving wife, Tressie Choate; stepdaughter, Brittany (Judd) Crandell; brother, Charles "Chuck" Choate of Akron; nephew, Tim Choate; niece, Dawn (Rick) Breen of Lemont, IL; nephew, Scott Wilson of Decatur, IL; sister-in-law, Ida Sorrells of Miamisburg; niece and nephew, Paige and Blake Whipkey of Miamisburg; family friends, Anne and Greg Brodwick of Lawrence Township. Clif was very loved by his loyal dogs, Timber and Branch. The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice for the great care they gave to Clif. Funeral Services will be held FRIDAY, August 1, 2025, 12:30pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton with Pastor Dave Fuller officiating. Visitation ONE HOUR PRIOR to service time at the funeral home. Burial with military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, OH.
