Obituary

Dana Leigh Winkler, 68, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at his beloved home in Canal Fulton, Ohio. His short battle with cancer was hard-fought and bravely borne.

On January 3, 1958, Dana was born to Roy and Mary Winkler. Raised in Canal Fulton, he was a proud graduate of Northwest High School, Class of 1976. He had been looking forward to celebrating his 50th class reunion later this summer—his absence will be deeply felt.

For over thirty years, Dana owned and operated D&D Auto Service. He was well-known throughout the community for his skilled workmanship and honest service. All who knew him were immeasurably blessed by his ability to get them safely back on the road.

More recently he had been spending time building the close-knit poker community begun by his son, Kevin. Dana found much joy in not only playing poker, but in showing new players the ropes. He was a gift to this special community just as it was a gift to him.

Each of his children will forever hold fond memories of fishing, snowmobiling, lending a hand at the auto shop, and working on various projects at his home workshop.

Dana will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by many. He is survived by his children Brian Winkler (Marcy), Kevin Winkler (Alissa), Stephanie King (Michael), and Ashley Winkler (John), and his three grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Dana during calling hours on Saturday, August 1st, from 11am to 1pm at Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home 624 Cherry St E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton. Immediately following the calling hours, a celebration of his life will take place at 1pm.
