Dr. Dean E. LeBeau, 66 of Lawrence Twp., died unexpectedly Wednesday, January 26, 2011 following an accident at his home. He was a life resident of the Jackson Twp. area, a 1962 Jackson High School graduate, attended Capital University. He received a BS degree in Zoology in 1967 and a D.V.M. in 1970, both degrees from the Ohio State University. He was elected to Phi Zeta Veterinary Honorary Fraternity and served in the Veterinary Corps. of the U S Army from 1970-1972, stationed at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina. He was the founder of the Animal Care Clinic, which he operated for 22 years until his retirement in 2001. Dean was instrumental in the founding of the Stark County Veterinary Emergency Clinic, where he served on the Board for many years. He served on the Board of the Stark County Humane Society and was a lifetime member of both the A.V.M.A. and O.V.M.A. and also was active in the Stark County Veterinarian Association. He currently served on the Board of Directors for the Jackson Twp. Historical Society. He was a past member of Zion Lutheran Church, North Canton and a current member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, North Canton, where he served several years as a teller and recently had returned from a mission trip to Haiti. He was currently serving on the committee for the construction of the Class of 1970 Communication and Learning Center at Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Grace (Ramsire) LeBeau; sister-in-law, Anna Mae LeBeau . He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joan Patton LeBeau; children, Ashley (Chad) Peterson of Camas, Washington; Shane (Kristin) LeBeau of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Hanna and Hayden Peterson and Braden LeBeau; brother, Ellis LeBeau of Canton; sister, Shirley (Daniel) Dennis of Canton and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service SATURDAY, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 7707 Market Avenue North, North Canton, Ohio with Pastor Kip Smith officiating. Burial North Canton Cemetery, Friends may call FRIDAY 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St. (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton) and SATURDAY one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Building Fund or the Stark County Humane Society.
