Donald R. Maurer, 79 of Canal Fulton, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Born January 6, 1947 to the late Dale and Twyla Maurer; he was a proud US Marine Corps veteran having served during Vietnam. Don worked for Ohio Edison for 15 years and then for ODOT retiring in 2007 after 10 years of service. He was also an EMT for the Canal Fulton and Lawrence Township Fire Departments.

Don was a lifetime member of the Firestone VFW 3383 and was a military enthusiast. He enjoyed working on military model kits and attending military functions such as parades and remembrances.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ryan Maurer. Don is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sandra (McMillan) Maurer; daughter, Deanna (Tim) Denman; son, Robert Maurer; grandchildren, Jacob and Justin Denman.

Visitation will be held MONDAY, February 9, 2026, 10:30am to 12:30pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
