Doris Emma (Roehm) Olsen, 90 of New Franklin passed away Saturday, January 18,2014, following a short illness. Born April 13, 1923 in Irvington, New Jersey to the late William and Emma Roehm, Doris attended Rutgers University and worked at the Prudential Insurance Company in New York City before marrying Oscar Olsen in 1951. In 1958, Doris and Oscar moved to New Franklin, Ohio. An avid reader and gardener, Doris also enjoyed crafts such as cross-stitch and crochet, as well as golfing and hiking. Doris was an active member of the United Methodist Women and Missions at Manchester United Methodist Church for many years. Preceded in death by her great-granddaughter Sophie; Doris is survived by her husband, Oscar, and her three children, Bruce D. Olsen of W. Hollywood, CA; Linda J. (Olsen) and son-in-law, David Koerber of Evergreen, CO; Elaine B. (Olsen) and son-in-law Jeffrey Mead of Dublin, OH. In addition, Doris has five grandchildren, Erika, Krista, Jonathan, Kristopher, Linnea and two great grandchildren, Chloe and James. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Manchester United Methodist Church, 5625 Manchester Road, Akron, with Pastor Dale Gharky officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Manchester UMC.
