Edwin "Ed" Speedy, 67 of Akron passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Ed was born in Barberton on February 23, 1948 to the late Edwin and Irene Speedy. He lived in the Akron area all his life. Ed was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. Ed will be remembered for his love of his family. He was especially proud of his children and grandkids always supporting them in the playing of their sports, watching them proudly, cheering them all. Ed had a great joy in fishing as much as he could, especially in the Portage Lakes and Canada. He always had a joke for everything and made many people laugh. Ed will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl and is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia; children, Karen Speedy, Eddie (Julianne) Speedy, Brian (Jessica) Speedy and Ryan (Misty) Speedy; Grandchildren, Rikki, Brock, Kade, Jace, Avery and Ava; sister, Janis Lane; brothers, Ronnie Speedy, Kenny Speedy and John Speedy; sister-in-law Diana (Chuck) Johnston; nephew Bill of Missouri; and numerous family and friends.

Funeral Service Monday, May 18, 2015 at 12 Noon at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 East Cherry St. ( Rt. 93, Canal Fulton). Family and friends may call MONDAY from 11 a.m. until time of services.
