Obituary

Elden Edward Workinger, 80, went home to be with the Lord Monday, August 31, 2026. He was born November 24, 1945 in Massillon to the late Edward and Carolyn (Boettler) Workinger. Elden worked for Ohio Edison, was a police officer with the North Canton Police Department and retired as a Sergeant with the Stark County Sheriff’s Department after many years of service. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren; a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and member of the William H. Hoover Lodge #770, lifetime member of the FOP McKinley Lodge #2, member of the Stark County Farm Bureau, and was a gold medalist in the Police Olympics.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Weirich. Elden is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Judith (Green) Workinger; children, Matt (Lori) Workinger, Mary (Oscar) Iraheta and Scott (Heather) Workinger; grandchildren, Lily, Benny, Alex and Gabi Iraheta, Brandyn (Jessica) and Aaron Workinger; brother, Leroy (Beverly) Workinger; brother-in-law, Craig (Cindy) Weirich; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held SATURDAY, September 5, 2026, 11:00am, at Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren, 4152 Mt. Pleasant St. NW, North Canton with Pastor Bruce Jacobsen officiating. Burial at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation Friday, 4pm to 7pm and Saturday one hour prior to services both AT THE CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren.
