Obituary

Floyd Edward Gottsman, 79 , husband, foster father, grandfather and great grandfather, of Canal Fulton passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 of cancer and lung disease. Floyd was born May 27, 1938 in Carrollton to the late Herman and Dora (Lotz) Gottsman. He served in the U.S. Army and retired after 27 years as a truckdriver with Yellow Freight. Floyd was a member of SS Philip & James Catholic Church, Canal Fulton and the Canal Fulton Lions Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Gottsman; foster daughter, Rose Francis; brother-in-law, Carl Martin. Floyd is survived by his wife of 43 years, Edna Mae (Brahler) Gottsman; five foster children; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Janice Gottsman; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mass of the Christian Burial TUESDAY 11:00 a.m. at SS Philip & James Catholic Church, 412 N. High St., Canal Fulton with Fr. Kevin McCaffrey, Celebrant. Friends may call MONDAY 5-7 p.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St. (Rte.93) Canal Fulton and where a Lions Services will be conducted MONDAY 6:30 p.m. Committal service with Military Honors will be Friday 10:30 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to  St. Jude's Research Hospital,501 St. Jude Place, Memphis , TN 38105 or Walsh University for the Scholarship Fund, 2020 East Maple Street, North Canton, OH 44720
