Floyd Markel, 87 of Manchester, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, February 4, 2018. Born in Akron to the late Kelley and Katherine (Woods) Markel he was lifetime member of the Manchester area, a proud Army veteran having served during the Korean War and retired at age 55 from Ohio Bell. Floyd enjoyed his family, fishing, the harmonica, pool, and ice skating. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. The family wishes to thank Compassionate Care Hospice and Windsong Nursing Home for their kind and loving care. In addition to his parents Floyd was preceded in death by his loving wife Laura Markel and three brothers. Floyd is survived by his daughters, Vickie Markel and Judy (Mark) Crosier; grandchildren, Paul (Rachel), Tiffany, Keith (Michelle), Jeff, David, Amanda (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Alex and Paul.Funeral Services will be held THURSDAY, 11:00am at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton, with Rob Kasler officiating. Burial at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, 5pm to 7pm.
