Gary L. Vardon, 68 passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at Summa Barberton. Gary was born January 17, 1946 in Akron to the late Dominic & Martha (Kanecke) Vardon and had been an Akron/Canal Fulton resident all of his life. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corp. Gary retired from the Akron Parks Dept. after 30 years of service. He joined the Lawrence Twp. Fire Dept. at it's inception, serving as a captain for 10 years. He was a member of the Marine Corp League. Gary was a dear friend, loving father and husband and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Vardon; granddaughter, Christiana A. Moore and is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia (Oblisk) Vardon; daughters, Valerie (Mike )Magazzeni and Kristine (Ron) Cottle; grandchildren, Madelaine and Dominic: sister, Joan Dennewitz; sister-in-law, Virgie (Nick) Toumasis; nieces and nephews, Don (Lillian) Vardon, Doug Vardon, Nancy (Lonnie) Westfall, Mark Toumasis and Shelly Solis.
