George A. "The Farmer" Colucci, 85, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 1, 2015 with his family by his side.
Born on July 20, 1930 in Ashtabula, to the late Anthony and Antoinette (Candela) Colucci, George had been an area resident all of his life. He graduated from Ashtabula High School and then proudly served 4 years in the U.S. Army. He worked as a maintenance mechanic at Millennium Chemicals for over 30 years before his retirement.
George married the love of his life, Rose Marie Myers, on October 22, 1955. Together they raised two children and built the farm that was his life long dream where they raised pigs, chickens, turkeys and cows. He worked on the farm and felt most at home there right up to the end. When they weren't working, George and Rose loved to go dancing at weddings and at the VFW in Ashtabula. He was an avid gardener and he loved to watch and attend sporting events. His favorite teams were Notre Dame, Penn State, and the Cleveland Browns, Indians & Cavaliers. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family and he was proud of everything they accomplished, especially his grandchildren.
George is survived by his son George (Patty) Colucci of Jefferson; daughter Stephanie (Terry) Wardrop of Madison; grandchildren Joe and Jamee Colucci, and Nick Wardrop; brother Jerry Colucci and sister Ginger Colucci and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years and sister Bonnie Kaferle.
Per his wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in George's name to the charity of the givers choice.
