Obituary

Harry Lewis Chaplin Jr, age 91 of Beach City Ohio, passed away Tuesday, December 23 2025.

Born July 20, 1934 in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late Florence and Harry Chaplin Sr.; he graduated from East Providence High School in RI. Harry was a star basketball player; being named 1st team all-state and earned a scholarship to Louisville College. He graduated with his teaching degree, then got his Master’s at the University of West Virginia.

Harry retired from Tuslaw Local School District. He was a teacher and principal for his whole career at Tuslaw.

He loved spending his summers on Cape Cod with his family. Sailing was also a passion. He also enjoyed skiing in the wintertime at Boston Mills, Brandywine, Akron Ski Club, and the best was Seven Springs in PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William “ Bill” Chaplin.

Uncle Bill is survived by his absolutely wonderful wife Marie Chaplin, 3 admired children Dawn, David and Rebecca

Harry is survived by his children, Mark W (Sue) of Massillon, Lori Chaplin-Clark of Brewster MA, Leah Chaplin-Pereira (Vic) of Taunton, MA; 5 grandchildren, Nicole Chaplin of Massillon, Bryan Chaplin of Canton, Josh Fernandes of Massachusetts, Paul Fernandes of Vermont and Spencer Clark of Massachusetts; 9 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren

The family would like to thank Amherst Meadows in Massillon for their wonderful care of Harry.

Per Harry’s request cremation has taken place and all services will take place privately in Rhode Island next summer at the family’s convenience.
