Hazel Virginia (nee Shomo) Tate, 88 of Akron died Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Heather Knoll Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Shade Township, Pennsylvania but moved to Ohio in the early 1950's and lived most of her life in the Akron area. Hazel married Geroge Tate on Feb. 8, 1941. She was a housewife and mother and will be missed by all who loved her. Hazel was a member of the Goodnews Baptist Church of Akron.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ida Mae (Ream) Shomo; husband, George E. Tate; daughter, Shirley Ann NeSmith; brother, Jack Shomo and son-in-law, Henry Czartoszewski. She is survived by her sons, Ronald (Dorothy) Tate; Albert Tate and daughters, Linda Czartoszewski and Trudy Marchese; sisters, Frances (Dale) Chathams, Helen (Jim) Smith and Dora (Ed) Davidson, all of Pennsylvania and brother, Bill Shomo; 13 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great, Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held THURSDAY 11 A.M., at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 East Cherry St. (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton) with Pastor Bernard Christy officiating. Burial at Evergreen Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Thursday.
