Helen Doris (Brown) Wells fulfilled her 94 years on earth, Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Born in Akron, Helen was the oldest of eight children of Arthur and Hazel Brown. Her surviving sisters and brothers are Paul Brown, Joe (Jean) Brown, Joanna Badger, Mina McClure and Mary Subotin. For 69 years, she and her husband Arthur, shared a full life with their five children, Joan (Chuck) Conaway; Carol (Wayne) Dotson; Bill (Dixie) Wells; David Wells and Don (Trish) Wells. Working at the flower shop in Goodyear Heights brought many silly bouts of giggles and laughter as well as times of hard work. Mom was never afraid of hard work. She was a strong and determined woman!! Home, family and church were important to her. She created a home that was cozy, inviting and always open to anyone alone to share a meal, a holiday or a place to stay. Sundays midday meal after church brought on the delightful aromas from the kitchen. And, regardless of how many shared the meal, there were always leftovers. Playing the organ and piano also brought her lots of pleasure. When her children were small she would play the "marching" song and every child within hearing distance would come marching. This same song initiated a long line of grandchildren as she played it over and over, getting faster with each repetition until they'd fall into a pile laughing and giggling. Her lap and arms were always full of any of the 18 grandchildren or 20 great grandchildren. Helen loved to laugh and there was always something silly that brought a tickle to even the most serious of onlookers. Teaching Sunday School brought her much pleasure, too and she loved coming up with projects for her classes to make. Helen was truly a beautiful woman, both inside and out. We celebrate her life! She is at peace. The Family wish to thank the staff at Pleasant View for all their care and kindness.
