James D. Humbert, 81 of Canal Fulton, Ohio passed away after a brief illness on Monday, August 17, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Hilda Humbert and is survived by his wife of 52 years, Catherine (Paridon) Humbert; sons, Eric (Melissa) and Darren Humbert; grandsons Jacob and Spencer, all of Canal Fulton. He is also survived by one sister, Virginia (Derrell) Lyon of Chico, Texas. He was born in Barberton, Ohio and was a lifelong resident of Manchester and Canal Fulton. He was a 1953 graduate of Manchester High School where he earned All Suburban League honors in football and was later inducted into the Manchester High School Sports Hall of Fame. After graduation, he proudly served his country in Korea as a U. S. Marine. Returning home, he worked as an Operating Engineer for the H. B. Lockhart Construction Company for nearly 43 years. His most beloved thing in life was his devoted faith, family, especially attending his grandson's extracurricular activities. He had a passion for his annual garden and enjoyed spending countless mornings at Osers with his many friends. He enjoyed watching sports, old western movies and television shows. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on FRIDAY, August 21 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 4022 Johnson Rd, Norton, OH, Fr. Arthur Bacher and Fr. David McCarthy concelebrating. Friends may call THURSDAY, August 20th from 5:00pm-8:00 pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St. (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton).
