James (Jim) E. Shondel, Jr., 74 of Jackson Township, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 25, 2021.  He was born August 12, 1947 in Akron, OH to the late James Shondel Sr. and Germaine (Klein) Shondel and was raised in Columbus and then Clinton, OH.  Jim was a graduate of Northwest High School and attended Bowling Green State University and the University of Akron where he earned a degree in Finance.  He served in the Army Reserve from 1968-1974 for the 447th Military Police Company in Wooster, OH.  He worked for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 35 years in various finance roles, most recently as a Plant Purchasing Manager before his retirement.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who called him "Papa".  He enjoyed traveling over the years to Canada, Florida, Hawaii, Myrtle Beach and other places with his family.  He enjoyed working outside, golfing, and watching the Browns, Cavs, Indians, and Buckeyes.  Jim was a life-long Buckeye fan and sent all three of his children to The Ohio State University.  He was also excited for his grandson who is currently attending Ohio State.  He was a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Luncheon Club.  He was also a vintage car enthusiast and enjoyed driving and working on his 1989 Corvette.

Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara (Connolly) Shondel; daughter Lisa (Shondel) Turner; sons Christian and Jonathan Shondel; grandchildren Alex, Samantha, Holly, Gaby, and Juliana; son-in-law Jerry Turner and daughters-in-law Silvia (Ramirez) Shondel and Catherine Kasper-Shondel; sisters Beverly (Shondel) Ross, Patricia (Shondel) Chevrier, Christine (Shondel) Milosevic and families and brother Tom Shondel and family.

A small service will be held for immediate family.  Jim will be laid to rest at Clinton Cemetery next to his childhood home.
