Obituary

James (Jim) Snyder Jr., 61, passed away on January 15, 2026, in New Franklin, Ohio. Born on August 6, 1964, in Barberton, Ohio, Jim lived a life marked by dedication—to his family, his country, and the open road.

Jim proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. After his military service, he spent most of his career as an owner-operator long-haul truck driver. His work took him across the country, but no matter how far he traveled, his heart remained close to home.

He was devoted to his family and believed in the importance of tradition and togetherness. Jim understood the value of carving out time for loved ones and made it a priority throughout his life.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Snyder; his father, James Snyder Sr.; his brother Ted Snyder and sister-in-law Beth; and his children: Frank Runyon (Sam), Shawn Seevers (Courtney), Jayne Wingrove (Frank), and Cori Snyder. He also leaves behind grandchildren Cameron Ash and Josie Seevers; nieces Hannah Rogers (Payton), Jenna Snyder, and Nora Snyder; and great-niece Channing Rogers.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Snyder; grandparents Laurel and Thelma Webster and Russell and Florilla Snyder.

In his youth, Jim was an avid athlete who played track, soccer, and football. He was proud to be a member of the marching band at both Kenmore High School and The University of Akron. Later in life, he continued to enjoy sports through years of playing softball with close friends. A passionate fan of The Ohio State University and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jim never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite teams.

Jim’s legacy lives on through those who knew him best—his family, friends, and all who shared time with him on life’s journey.

Calling hours will be held on FRIDAY, January 23, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. with a Funeral Service immediately following. Interment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2580 Romig Rd. following the funeral service.
