James Bernard Stephan, born on June 15, 1934, in Canal Fulton, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his hometown on February 14, 2026, at the age of 91. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and an Army veteran who served his country with honor.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Janet (Miller) Stephan; children, David (Debbie) Stephan and Denise (George) Zembar; grandchildren, Matthew (Rachel Schafer) Stephan and Nicole Stephan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Alma (Schalmo) Stephan, and his brother, Dale Stephan.
Before and after retirement, Jim and Janet loved traveling. In the beginning, they took vacations to Canada for fishing and quality time with family. Later on, they enjoyed beach getaways, visiting loved ones in Florida, and embarking on unforgettable trips with friends and family. Jim also had a passion for gardening and fishing. He frequently went to Lake Erie to catch walleye, as well as fishing and fly fishing in various nearby lakes.
A private graveside service will be held at Canal Fulton Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
