James J. Wery, 67, of Canal Fulton, passed away at home on Friday, February 17, 2017 after a long illness. He was born in Akron, Ohio and spent his entire life in and around the New Franklin and Canal Fulton areas. His idea of a perfect day was spending it in his boat fishing or fishing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He worked as an HVAC technician at Summa Health Systems for 42 years retiring in October of 2014. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. Wery and Cecilia A. Wery and sister-in-law Sharon Wery. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 44 years, Karen (Knight) Wery; his daughter and son-in-law Lisa A. and Dennis L. Buchanan and the lights of his life, grandchildren, Gavin and Payton Buchanan of Massillon, and brother Robert Wery of Delaware, Ohio. Family and friends may call SATURDAY, 11:30am to 1:00pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 1:00pm, Chaplain Karen Ballard, officiating and with Military honors to be conducted at the conclusion of the service.
