James W. Gibson, 81 of Manchester, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024. Born June 14, 1942 to the late James and Alice Gibson, he was a 1960 graduate of Garfield High School and retired from Ohio Edison after 33 years of service. Jim was also a proud US Navy Veteran. While in the Navy Jim played baseball and basketball. In his free time, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed all sports. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Gibson. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carol (Takacs) Gibson; son, James (Ana Maria) Gibson; daughter, Wendy (Donald) Wells; grandchildren, James Gibson, Hunter Wells and Rebecca Gibson. A Memorial Service will be held SUNDAY, May 19, 2024, 3:00pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton with Pastor Max Ulderich officiating. Visitation ONE HOUR PRIOR to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Manchester Christian Church, 930 W. Nimisila Rd, Akron, OH 44319.
