Janet Mary (Schumacher) Yingling, 83, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 24, 2026, surrounded by the prayers and love of her family. She passed away only days before her beloved husband of 58 years, Alan Yingling, with whom she shared a lifetime of faith, love, and devotion.

Born on March 10, 1943, in Louisville, Ohio, Janet was the daughter of the late Paul and Arlene (Bishop) Schumacher. She graduated from Louisville High School and began her career at The Timken Company. After meeting and marrying the love of her life, Alan, on May 4, 1968, she devoted herself to raising their family as a full-time mother. Later in life, she worked at the Stark County Farm Bureau, Golden Crisp Potato Chips, and Curves in Canal Fulton.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Arlene (Bishop) Schumacher; her sister, Rita Wechter; her brother-in-law, Gary Wechter; and her sister-in-law, Barbara (Paumier) Schumacher.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Ed (Joy) Yingling, Tim (Maureen) Yingling, and Suzanne Gunias (Mike); her cherished grandchildren, Grace, Thomas, and Philip Yingling; her brothers, John (Joyce) Schumacher, Carl (Fran) Schumacher, and Gary (Cis) Schumacher; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and countless friends whom she considered family.

Janet lived a life deeply rooted in her Catholic faith. Her trust in the Lord shaped her words, actions, and relationships. She sought to live according to God's will, serving others with compassion, kindness, and quiet strength. Through every season of life, her unwavering faith remained her foundation.

Her love for her parish was evident through decades of faithful service. Janet generously volunteered as chairman of church funeral luncheons, altar and rosary, card parties, and in many other parish activities, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever she was needed. She also faithfully served the Stark County Farm Bureau as Safety Chairman, reflecting her commitment to serving both her church and her community.

Those who knew Janet will remember her as thoughtful, caring, fun-loving, and quick to share a laugh. Like Alan, she enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends, creating countless memories filled with laughter, friendly competition, and togetherness. She had a remarkable gift for making others smile and brought warmth, encouragement, and joy wherever she went. She treasured her family, her church, her friends, and the community that became an extension of her family. Her life stands as a testimony that faith endures, God opens every door in His perfect time, and His love never fails.

Visitation will be held SUNDAY, August, 2, 2026 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St E (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton.

Mass of Christian Burial MONDAY, 10:00am at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, 412 N. High St, Canal Fulton with Fr. John Sheridan presiding. A luncheon will immediately follow the mass in the church social hall. After the luncheon a procession will form to take Janet and Alan to their final resting place together at Sunset Hills Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, Janet requested that memorial contributions be made to Luke 19 Ministries and the Saints Philip & James Capital Campaign.

Janet's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her church family, neighbors, and friends who walked beside her throughout her journey home. Your visits, prayers, conversations, and countless acts of kindness filled her final days with love and comfort. She often said, "I cherish these times, and I wasn't even aware that I had this many friends." Those words reflected the gratitude and joy she carried in her heart until the very end.

Janet's legacy of faith, love, generosity, service, and laughter will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
