Jill J. (Johanning) Carnes, age 73, of Canal Fulton, passed away peacefully on Sept. 28, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, granny and friend.

Jill had a very kind, loving, gentle and generous heart.

Born on July 4th, 1951 to Walter and Betty, she graduated from Jackson High School Class of 1970. She married Thomas in 1977 and had a career with Ronald Stanich, DDS which she retired from after 37 years.

Jill enjoyed reading, traveling, gambling and playing cards. She loved watching her grandsons play sports and their other activities. She was also a member of SS Philip and James Catholic Church in Canal Fulton.

Jill is survived by her beloved husband, Tom; son, Tommy (Sarah) of Canal Fulton; grandsons, Logan and Allen, whom she loved dearly; siblings, John (LuAnn) Johanning of New Port Richey, FL, Mark (Linda) Johanning of Gallatin, TN, Kimberly (Steve) Stevens of North Canton; In-laws, Jack (Nancy) Carnes of Jackson Twp., and Chris (Dan) Johnson of Maryville, TN; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jill was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Betty Johanning; brother, Michael Johanning; sister, Sandra Forrer; nephew, Douglas Johanning and niece, Christine Forrer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held FRIDAY, October 4, 2024, 11:30am at SS Philip and James Catholic Church, 412 N. High St, Canal Fulton. Burial at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Massillon. Calling Hours FRIDAY, 9am to 11am at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SS Philip and James Catholic Church or a charity close to your heart.
