JoAnn Criss, 88 of Canal Fulton, passed away peacefully Friday, August 8, 2025. Born July 8, 1937, to the late Dennis and Magdalene Wood. She retired from John Hancock after several years of service as an administrative assistant. In her free time JoAnn enjoyed reading, gardening, and hosting backyard barbecues with her family in the home she shared with her husband Ron. She was an active member of The Goodyear Hunting and Fishing Club volunteering at numerous fund-raising events. In addition to her many volunteer hours, some of her fondest memories were spent renting beach homes with all her children and grandchildren over the years. She and Ron were able to travel with friends to their dream destination of Hawaii which was filled with unforgettable memories.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Criss on May 16, 2025; brother, Dennis L. Wood and sister, Darlene Busse. JoAnn is survived by her daughters, Denise (Randy) Toney, Laura (Robert) Ondecker, Brenda (Cecil) Richmond and Linda (Joe) Vuksta; Ron's children, Ronald (Sayuri) Criss, Cynthia Criss, Richard Criss, Robert (Stephanie) Criss, Susan Brown, and Rodney (Cynthia) Criss; 24 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

For the past two and a half years Joann had been a resident of Chapel Hill Community Assisted Living in Canal Fulton. The family would like to thank the staff for their exceptional care and would like to acknowledge the special effort given to her by Jackie and Andrew.

Visitation will be held THURSDAY, August 14, 2025, 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00pm. Final resting place will be Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joann's memory to Chapel Hill Community in care of the Activities Department, 12200 Strausser St. NW, Canal Fulton, OH 44614.
