Joanne Evelyn Workman of Canal Fulton, age 72 died Saturday evening, May 21, 2011. Miss Workman was born in Akron, Ohio, January 16, 1939 to Earl and Josephine (Henry) Workman, both deceased. She was a graduate of St. Vincent High School, St. Thomas School of Nursing and received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Akron. She was employed as a Registered Nurse and Patient Advocate at St. Thomas Hospital, Akron; Alaskan Native Hospital, Anchorage, Alaska and retired from Barberton Citizens Hospital. Joanne was a member of Sts. Philip & James Catholic Church, Sts. Philip & James Altar & Rosary Society and many church committees. Joanne is survived by her brothers, Bud (Bonnie) of Canton; John (Kathy) of Canal Fulton; sisters, Nancy (David) LeBeau; Evelyn (Raymond) Schneider; Dorothy (Gregory) Spencer, all of Canal Fulton; Marian (Robert) Kumse of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Theresa (James) Kramer of East Sparta. Joanne loved her family and was always interested in the activities of her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and associates she has made over the years.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be WEDNESDAY, at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Philip & James Catholic Church, 412 High Street N., Canal Fulton with Fr. John Warner officiating and Fr. Joseph Workman concelebrating. Burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call TUESDAY 5-8 p.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 East Cherry St. (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sts. Philip & James Church Roof Fund in her memory or the charity of your choice.
