John L. Blankenship, 74 of New Franklin passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2016. He was born January 7, 1942 and had been a Summit County resident for more than 50 years. He worked for McNeil Corp, Akron and retired from Alkar Inc., Kent. John was a member of Victory Lodge #649 and enjoyed hunting, collecting cars, camping and riding his Harleys. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia & Everett Wilson and brother, Charles Wilson. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; daughter, Rachelle (Gary) Leaver; grandchildren, Johnathon, Joshua, Ravonne and Ramanda; great grandchildren, Mya and Luis; brothers, Delmar (Mary Lou), Dale and Harold (Amy) Wilson; sisters, Patricia (Garth) Holcomb and Edith (Denny) Nichols.

Family will be receiving guests from 2 to 4pm with a Memorial service to follow at 4pm on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Chapel Hill Community, 12200 Strausser Street NW with Rev. Sandra Hutchinson officiating.
