Joseph F. Forsthoffer, 87 of Canal Fulton died Friday, August 14, 2015. He was born April 8, 1928 in Duquesne, Pennsylvania to the late Stephen and Elizabeth (Chontas) Forsthoffer and was a Canal Fulton resident for the past 41 years. Joe retired from the United States Marine Corps after 21 years of service having served in Japan, Korea and Hawaii. After his military service Joe worked 21 years for the FAA at O'Hare International Airport and the Akron Canton Airport.. Joe was a member of SS Philip and James Catholic Church where he taught youth ministry, was a lectern and also a member of the Knights of Columbus #11037. Joseph enjoyed walking his dog T2, reading, doing yard work and most of all spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen; sister, Margaret and brother John. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elaine (Sheba) Forsthoffer; children, Joseph P. (Katheryn Rodler) Forsthoffer, Stephanie R. (Tommy J. ) Mabelitini; step granddaughter Sarah; sisters Elizabeth Sloss, Ruth (Eugene) Croyle, Patricia Lonzo and Mary (Albert) Kraykovic; brother, George (Rita) Forsthoffer and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held THURSDAY, Aug. 20th at 10:00 a.m at SS Philip & James Catholic Church, 412 High St. N with Fr. Kevin McCaffrey officiating. Burial in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
Friends may call WEDNESDAY, 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 East Cherry St. ( Rt. 93, Canal Fulton).
