Kathie Ann Nelson, 64 of Jackson Twp and formerly of Portage Lakes, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015 following a difficult battle with illnesses. Born on September 2, 1950 in Barberton to the late Elizabeth (Miller) and Clarence Carmichael, Kathie retired from the Summit County Common Pleas Court as a bailiff for Judge Patricia Cosgrove. She was a "snowbird" who loved Florida sunshine and an Alumnae Initiate of Alpha Phi International Fraternity. Kathie is survived by her husband Dave of almost 45 years; children, Kim (Jeff) Sheeler and Chuck (Krista) Nelson; granddaughter Karter Nelson; special grandson Aaron Joy; sisters Judy (Dan) Hentosz and Susie (Tom) Roberson; as well as many people who knew her as Aunt Kathie, Mama Nelson or grandma, as well as many friends all of whom she loved deeply. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2015, 1:00pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St. (Rte. 93) Canal Fulton, Judge Patricia Cosgrove officiating. Final resting place Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman. Friends may call Saturday 11:00am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors or any organization you feel would honor her memory.
