Kathie L. Townsend, 69 of North Canton passed away Sunday, January 27,2013 at Mercy Medical Center. Kathie was born in Canton and had been a life resident of the area. She received her bachelors degree from Malone College and her masters degree from Ashland University and retired in 2003 from the Northwest Local School District after 29 years service, where she taught at Canal Fulton Elementary and Clinton Elementary Schools. After retirement, she worked for Peter D. Hart, a polling firm and was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers' Association. Kathie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ronald Townsend, whom she married May 28, 1965; also by her daughter, Rhonda (Todd) Galloway; grandchildren, Ashlee, Isabella and Ethan; sister, Linda DiPaulo; brothers, Martin Moody and Dan Moody; a niece and a nephew. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Mercy Medical Center for their care and kindness to Kathie. Funeral Service FRIDAY 10:30 a.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St. (Rte. 93, Canal Fulton) with Rev. Rod Grabski officiating. Burial at East Goshen Friends Cemetery, East Goshen Twp.. Friends may call at the funeral home THURSDAY 6-8 p.m.
