Leonard D. Modugno, D.D.S., 58, of Jackson Twp., died suddenly Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010. He was born in Akron and lived most of his life in the Cuyahoga Falls area. He was a 1970 graduate of Walsh Jesuit High School, 1974 graduate of Miami University and a 1977 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. After graduation, he worked at Union Dental Center until 1981, when he bought his private practice in Canal Fulton. He was a member of the Stark County Dental Society, where he was editor from 1995-2003, board member from 1996-2007 and president in 2006. He was also a member of the Ohio Dental Association, American Dental Association and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He was also active in the Canal Fulton community as a member of the Heritage Society, past president and member of the former Kiwanis Club of Canal Fulton and was a member of the Canal Fulton Chamber of Commerce. He was the loving son of the late Tony and Lena Modugno; loving brother of the late Angelo and the late John Modugno; loving husband of Diane Modugno; loving father of Dena Modugno, Justin Modugno and Lauren Woods. Lenny loved his family more than anything else in the world. Devoted to his wife, he was always the life of any family gathering. He was a successful doctor and businessman who took such pride in his work. He never failed at putting a smile on his patient's and family's face. Friends may call at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 E. Cherry St. (Rte. 93, Canal Fulton), SATURDAY, 1 to 4 p.m. There will be a private service for the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
