Lester P. “Les” Shane, 70 of Massillon, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026. Born October 31, 1955 to the late James and Phyllis Shane, he was a 1975 graduate of Dalton High School. After high school Les enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served from 1975 to 1979.
Les enjoyed fishing, camping and being outdoors. He loved racing; whether watching NASCAR on TV or being at the dirt tracks watching the sprint cars. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Vaughn Shane. Les is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Diane (Fisher) Shane; sons, Eric (Michelle) Shane and Cory (Katie) Shane; grandchildren, Keegan, Zoey, Brody and Carter; brothers, Steve Shane, Brian Shane and Bill (Connie) Shane; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be held FRIDAY, February 27, 2026, 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton. Burial to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Les’ name are requested to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 or online at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
