Mary M. Fals was born on November 18, 1947 to Robert J. and Martha M. (Faber) Fals. Her brothers are Dale R. Fals (deceased) and brother Robert D. Fals of North Lawrence. Her education includes graduating from Tuslaw High School in 1965, graduating from Kent State University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Teaching, graduate from Kent State with a Master's degree in library science and a Master's degree in education. She furthered her education by attending Akron University and receiving her Doctorate Law degree. After graduating from Kent State, she taught English for 10 years at Smithville Career Center and 20+ years at Berlin High School as a librarian. After retiring from teaching, she worked as a magistrate for Judge Klunk in Canton, reviewed and edited historical law cases for Lexis-Nexis and wrote briefs and decisions for an arbitrator. Mary was a world traveler during her summer breaks from teaching. She traveled to Alaska, India, Russia, Scandinavia, London, Australia, Taiwan, and Europe, but her favorite memories were made living in Austria. For more than 40 years she collected autographs from all the sports, political and international personalities, authors, musicians and cartoonists, just to name a few categories. She married Thomas L. Spencer in 1996. They spent many years as snowbirds, residing at their home in Parrish, Florida. Mary's family will receive friends Monday, October 21, 2024 at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton from 4-7 p.m. A private burial will take place at Newmans Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary's memory to St. Jude's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
