Mary Ellen Goodspeed, 93, of Massillon passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021.  She was born on April 17, 1928 in Elyria, Ohio to the late Harry E. and Jane G. (White) Van Boxel. Mary was a graduate of Youngstown State University and Saint Luke's Hospital Nursing School in Cleveland.  Over the years, she worked at as a registered nurse at Akron Children's Hospital, Akron General Hospital, and then taught several years at Akron School of Practical Nursing before retiring in 1989.  She was a member at Manchester United Methodist Church and loved singing in the choir.  Her devotion to family and firm belief in God throughout life was of much comfort to her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; survived by sons, James (Geraldine), Mark (Nancy); daughters, Susan (Richard) Kukucka, Jeanne (Robert) Bickett; grandchildren, Scott (Monica) Goodspeed, Dan (Amy) Goodspeed, Joshua (Crystal) Young, Michael Kukucka, Ron (Earline) Goodspeed, Elizabeth Rabbett, Keri (Luke) Honigman, Zachary (Molly Kime) Bickett, Sara (Joshua) Dew, Alexander Goodspeed, Devon Goodspeed and sixteen great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held WEDNESDAY, September 1, 2021, 12:00pm (Noon) at Manchester United Methodist Church, 5625 Manchester Rd, Akron, Pastor Craig D'Anniballe officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Akron. Visitation, Wednesday, ONE HOUR PRIOR to service time AT THE CHURCH.
