Obituary

Melvin Lynn Ruthrauff, 93 of Canal Fulton, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021. He was born November 6, 1927 in Redfield, Kansas to the late Leonard and Eunice Ruthrauff. Melvin was a proud Air Force veteran, graduate from Kansas State University with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and retired from McDermott as their Corporate Safety and Health Director. He was a lifelong learner, always passionate about reading and expanding his knowledge both personally and professionally. He continued taking online courses up to the week before becoming ill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Ruthrauff and son-in-law, Terry Iddings. Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Wanda (Nixon) Ruthrauff; children, Steve (Denise) Ruthrauff, Laura Iddings and Jerry (Terri) Ruthrauff; grandchildren, Stacy, Cole, Leah, KC, Christopher, Essence, Maddy and Lawrence; five great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Ruthrauff and sister, Betty Dody. A Celebration of Life will be held SATURDAY, November 6, 2021, 3:00pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton, Jim Gindlesberger officiating. Visitation ONE HOUR PRIOR to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you hug your family and consider doing a random act of kindness in Melvin's memory.
