Obituary

Michael Frederick Bartenstein passed away Dec 1, 2016 from complications following a surgical procedure at Aultman Hospital and Akron General. Mike served 6 years in the Vermont National Guard, graduating from the U. S. Army Artillery and Armor School, receiving the rank of Captain and Headquarters Commander, 3rd Battalion, 172 Reg. 50th Division. A professional skier, Mike raced as a member of the U.S. Olympic team, 1961 and remained a certified professional ski instructor. Mike retired in 2009 after serving as president of Gusmer-Admiral Equipment and Senior Project Engineer, Graco, installing equipment worldwide.

He is survived by his wife Paulette (DiBattista), his sons Eric and Kurt Bartenstein; six grandchildren, Peter, Emily, Anna, Gretchen, Abbey and Brody; daughters-in-law Wendy and Kristy; former spouse Susan Martin and sister-in-law, Jacqueline Bartenstein.

A true man of integrity, Mike Bartenstein's sense of humor and love of life brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew him.

Family and Friends may call THURSDAY, from 3pm to 7pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. East (Rt.93, Canal Fulton) with a service following at 7 pm with Jim Gindlesberger officiating. Private burial at the convenience of the family.
