Obituary

Michael “Mick” Canter II, 61, of Canal Fulton, died of natural causes on October 3, 2026.

Mick’s life held its share of difficult seasons, but those who knew and loved him knew there was far more to his story. He loved deeply and found joy in the people and things that mattered most to him.

Above all, Mick was a father to his beloved son, Harrison. One of the greatest joys of his life was coaching Harrison in Jackson baseball and sharing with him his love of sports. Those years on the ballfield created memories that will remain with Harrison and his family.

Mick was a proud Ohio sports fan, cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and Cavs. He also loved cooking, music and his faithful companion, Athena, who was family and a constant source of companionship and love. His faith in Jesus remained an important part of his life and a source of hope.

Mick will be remembered for his love of Harrison, his music, his cooking, his faith, and the memories he shared with family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved son, Harrison; his mother, Audrey Canter (Swisher); brothers Bob Canter and Dave (Misty) Canter; nephews Joseph, Owen and Jamison Canter; nieces Gracen Connelly and Emersen (Dylan) Gregorich; his faithful companion, Athena; and many family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael L. Canter.

May he rest peacefully in the loving arms of Jesus, until we meet again.

Visitation will be held FRIDAY, October 9, 2026 10:00am to 12:00pm at RiverTree Jackson, 7373 Portage St. NW, Massillon with a celebration of life immediately following at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Mick's son, Harrison Canter.
