Obituary

Michael Mihalko “Mike”, age 86 of Canal Fulton, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Born February 10, 1940 in Akron to the late Michael Sr. and Leona (nee Wiland) Mihalko, he had been a resident of the Canal Fulton/Manchester area for almost 60 years. Mike started his career as an apprenticed trained machinist for 20 years, then earned a bachelor’s degree in Vocation Education at Kent State University. After earning his degree, he taught machine trades at Garfield High School for 27 years.

Mike was a faithful participant at Chapel of the Cross Global Methodist Church in North Lawrence for 46 years. He loved singing in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years.

Mike was a long time member of the Canal Fulton Lions Club, where he served has president. He was also a lifelong fishing enthusiast and a member of the Akron-Canton Muskie Maniacs for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Suzanne (Davis) and mother, Leona Weese (Wiland). Mike is survived by his daughters, Terrie Lemley of Benton Harbor, MI and Sandra (Sandy) Cieslak of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Miechelle Weber, Janssen Lemley, Aaron Lemley, Nicole James, Meredith Johnson, Spencer Lemley and five great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held SATURDAY, September 19, 2026, 11:00am at Chapel of the Cross Global Methodist Church, 14411 Orrville St. NW, North Lawrence, OH 44666 with Pastor Phil Hoverstock officiating. Visitation ONE HOUR PRIOR to service time at the church. Burial at Newmans Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Chapel of the Cross Global Methodist Church, Lions Club International or the Canal Fulton Lions Club.
